Geoff Judge informs me, "The brake is a Dewhirst and Partner from Hounslow, London, UK.
Sold under the name of DUPAR, and the labels give information
such as current, voltage and maximum armature gap etc.
Dewhirst and Partner only ever provided equipment and never installed or serviced.
They still exist and are the parent company of Thames Valley Lift Equipments."
Thank You Geoff!

I wonder if that lever is used to manually release the brake?
Hans informs me that this does indeed release the brake. It is dangerous
because it can be left in the released postion and should have been removed.
