There appears to be six flat steps at the entrance and exit ends of these units...
Most escalators have between two and four flat steps at the entrance and exit ends.
I believe this is because it is hard to see the other end of the escalator when you
are bent over at the key switch to start the unit and there are more than four flat steps.

The Zipperstraße escalators are the longest in the whole Wien U-Bahn system - Vienna, Austria
They rise 17.7 meters and are 53 meters long.
They also have emergency stop switches positioned throughout the rise.
